Alex Gano
Attorney
Alex has represented affordable housing developers in Colorado since 2021. Prior to joining New Communities Law, Alex practiced law in the real estate group of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, at U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s Office of Regional Counsel, and in private practice in Denver. Alex serves on the Colorado Bar Association’s Affordable Housing Committee, the Colorado Division of Housing’s Resource Advisory Group, and the HOST Advisory Committee for Mayor-elect Johnston’s transition team.
Ben Doyle
Attorney
Ben has over fifteen years’ experience in representing Colorado affordable housing providers on development, financing, and management. Ben worked as in-house counsel for a Colorado housing authority for ten years before transitioning to private practice. Ben serves on the City of Boulder Board of Zoning Adjustment. Prior to law school, Ben served in the U.S. Air Force.
Elysha Lopez
Attorney
Elysha joined New Communities Law in 2024. Prior to joining NCL, Elysha practiced with Ben and Alex at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP and in the Office of Regional Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. Elysha has extensive experience in Section 8 Project‑Based Vouchers and HUD loan products.
Kalena Wong
Firm Administrator
Kalena has worked in program management and operations for nonprofits and startups for the past seven years. As the Firm Administrator, she leans on her experience building effective and people-centered work environments. She is motivated by NCL’s work to make housing in Colorado more attainable for residents of lower socio-economic backgrounds. With a degree in international relations and community development, she gravitated to mission-oriented work on poverty alleviation. Her work has taken her to India, Peru, and Guatemala.
Khrys Meier
Attorney
Khrys has more than eight years of experience in private practice in Colorado representing developers, property owners, and lenders. She routinely handles acquisitions and dispositions, commercial and residential leases, management agreements, common interest community transactions and governance, and title and survey matters. Her real estate finance experience includes experience with grant and loan programs administered by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority.
